Available Workflows
Access Request Workflow
The Access Request workflow is a default process in Policy Planner used to manage firewall access changes, including new access, rule design, implementation, and verification.
Key Features
-
Automation: Supports "no-touch" automation by enabling features like Auto Design, Auto Pass for PCA, and Auto Verification.
-
Customization: Users can create "instances" of the workflow template, modify form layouts via the Editable Workflow plugin, or simplify the flow for internal IT needs.
Access Request (Editable) is the only workflow that is customizable.
-
Integration: Can integrate with ServiceNow (where a Service Catalog Request triggers a Policy Planner ticket) or Application Manager.
-
Role-Based Access: Supports a "Requester" view where users can submit requests and track status without seeing technical analysis or change plans.
Connection Workflows
FireMon provides several connection workflows in Policy Planner to manage application connectivity without requiring technical knowledge of rule implementation.
-
Create Connection: Used to request and initiate a new connection, design rules, and associate them with the connection.
-
Modify Connection: Used to update existing connections by adding scope (Expand Scope) or reducing scope (Reduce Scope).
-
Remove Connection: Used to request the removal of a connection; the system determines if rules should be deleted or merely disassociated.
