Create a Service
To create a service, complete the following steps.
- On the toolbar, click FireMon Objects > Services.
- Click Create.
- From the list of protocols select a service type:
- TCP
- UDP
- ICMP
- Other
- Complete the following fields on the Service Properties page:
- Service Name—type the name of the service. This name will appear in the list of services.
- Description—type a brief description to help you identify or understand the service name.
- Vulnerability—type a description of any inherent risks.
- Default Risk—select the level of risk associated with allowing the service.
Some services are inherently risky. The perceived risk associated with some services will change based on how the service is used. You can assign different risk levels to this service based on the scenarios in which it is allowed.
- For TCP and UDP services only, enter a port range. If only one port allows the service, the port range should be made up of that number only (for example, Port 514 to 514):
- Port
- Select the Enable Range check box to include a Port End.
For ICMP services only, enter a type and code for the control message:
- ICMP Type
- ICMP Code
- For Other services only, enter a protocol:
- Protocol
- Click Save.
